Steps to upgrade NSX-T from 4.0.0 to 4.1.0

You may refer below link to download the next version that you want to upgrade.

Login to NSX-T console using Admin account

System -> Under Lifecycle Management -> Click Upgrade



Select MUB file path that you have downloaded ->



Download the supported MUB file



Upload the file VMware-NSX-upgrade-bundle-4.1.0.2.0.21761719-le.mub


Click Upload



Now .MUB file is getting upload, wait for to complete upload



After Uploading extracting the bundle and verifying compatibility



Now Extracting Upgrade Bundle



Now checking Compatibility Matrix of the Upgrade Bundle




Post all validation completion 

Click on Prepare for Upgrade



Accept the License Agreement


Preparing for Upgrade


Click Run Pre Checks



Pre-Check is running





Once Pre Check complete


Click Start Upgrade


Now Upgrade has completed



Now wait for complete the Upgrade

Upgrade completed with new version NSX-T 4.1.0.2.0.21761719








VMware NSX-T Deployment Step-by-Step

 

NSX-T 4.0 Deployment Step by Step 

  1. Download the NSX-T .OVF file but before downloading the NSX-T first need to validate the application using.

  1. Create DNS host record NSXMGMT.ads.com

Login to vCenter

Right click and Deploy the NSX-T using .OVF file



Check mark on Local File radio box -> Browse the path and select the .OVF file



Click Next

Give Virtual Machine Name


Select cluster or host and follow the steps





Select Network 


And IP allocation -> Manual



Set GRUB root password






Configure -> Hostname and IP address


This will be auto filled or configured, no need to update anything


Click Finish to complete the installation
















NSX cannot be enabled on the cluster because it contains host ffaee91d-e394-4dfa-af2d-6bfefc4c3d16:host-1001 of unsupported version. (Error code: 26221)

Apply a Transport Node Profile to the selected cluster. NSX will be installed with the deployment configuration defined in Transport Node Profile.

 



If you are getting above error means your NSX-T  Version is not supported with current ESXI version.

Open VMWare Product Interoperability link to validate the products and download the correct Version.

NSX-T EDGE Node Registration Pending

 



If you see EDGE node registration in pending state like below 

Run below command on NSX-T manager to get thumbprint


get certificate api thumbprint

Run below command on Edge machine using putty session.

join management-plane 192.168.0.45 username admin password Welcome@1989 thumbprint 35c035720be59bcec7dd9d8067335510e191cdcd06fc360ffd75162f84422c6b
